Google 的 Area 120 孵化器在 Alphabet 這波裁員中大幅削減了規模

據彭博社和 TechCrunch 報導，Google 內部的 Area 120 孵化器團隊在 Alphabet 的這波大裁員中受到了相當大的打擊，現在只剩下不足一百名成員。該部門成立於 2016 年，旨在「為 Google 自下而上的創新提供一個家」。在此之前它推出過 GameSnacks 等產品，而根據 TechCrunch 的說法，該部門長年會維持同時推進二十個計畫的狀態。但即便如此，其中往往只有三個計畫能「畢業」或在之後被納入 Google，而現在沒參與到今年「三強」計畫的 Area 120 成員都在這輪裁員中失去了他們的工作。

實際上在去年九月時，Area 120 已經經歷過一次人員調整。當時 Google 的代表稱該部門會把重點轉移到 AI 相關的事業上，這也跟本輪裁員 Alphabet 透露出來的訊號相符。
