繼 Twitter 和 Meta 系的社交平台之後，YouTube 早些時候也正式解封了美國前總統川普的帳號。他們聲稱自己是在權衡了暴力的「持續風險」和讓用戶聽到主要政治候選人發言的重要性之後才做出的決定，並強調川普目前雖然恢復了自由身，但其未來仍將受到和其他使用者一樣的政策約束。在解封的消息出來後沒多久，川普便透過 YouTube 發布了一段舊影片，並配文「我回來了」正式宣告回歸。

在 2021 年 1 月 6 日的美國國會山暴亂發生幾天後，YouTube 便決定封鎖川普頻道的上載功能，並刪除了一些有爭議的影片。不過他們始終沒有徹底清除該頻道，相比其它社交平台 YouTube 的做法已經算是比較寬容的了。
