Computex 2009:希悅爾的泡綿包材

這當然不是什麼新的東西。不過對於圈子外的人來說,很難得有機會看到所謂的包裝材製作(我想我也只有像這樣的電腦展場合比較有機會看到吧)。像我以前就不是很理解為何泡綿可以符合被包裝物的造型,是要花多少錢才能這樣搞?

This is not something new, but neither is it something that can be seen everyday. Ever wonder why the foam packaging always fits the object they wrapped around and how costly it is to make it so? Here is a quick tour to Sealed Air's showroom in Computex.


現場有電視展示泡綿的形成,我才知道原來是兩種不同的液體加在一起,經過一連串的化學作用而形成的。
Short video explaining the chemical process – in short, two different liquids mixed together, then series of chemical reaction starts to do the trick.

這款機器會吐出含有那兩樣液體的灰色袋子。
This machine dispenses the grey bag which contains those two liquids mentioned above.


然後趕快放進箱子中鋪一鋪。
Put into a cardboard box quickly and lay it flat.


就會開始漲起來。
Then it will start to expand


在期間的過程中,很自然就會符合被包物的形狀
And while it expand, it will expand around the object being packed so it will fit the object's contour.


就可以封起來出貨了XD
Close and tape the box, done!


我撕了一下袋子,裡面就是這樣的東西。
This is what's inside the bag after it expanded.


泡棉有分軟硬。硬的自然是比較損耗材料。
Adjustable foam density. Denser it is, then harder it is, hence more material used.


除了泡綿之外,還有將牛皮紙變成有緩衝空間比較緊實一點的包材。
Apart from foam packaging, there is also kraft paper compactor for using kraft paper as buffer material.


還有像這種箱子裝不滿時,填滿用的小空氣袋。
Air-filled cushion for space filling.


以及捏不破的氣泡袋。
And bubble wrap that won't pop.
