筆者在假日整理Computex的照片時，發現還有兩、三個新聞沒有寫到，想了一下，覺得神基(MiTAC)的強固筆電很有特色，再加上在台灣也比較少看到強固電筆，決定說明一下。不過這筆電在台灣應該是不會販售的（或是說，也許是特殊單位才有機會採買）。

在現場我對強固筆電有以下三個想法：

一、堅固：在高度90公分的情形下，在開機的狀態下摔，都不會有事。
二、適用惡劣環境：具備防塵防水特性。筆者曾問在海灘使用有沒有問題（我的數個電子產品曾因為進沙，出了不少狀況。），他說在沙漠使用都沒有問題。
三、比看起來輕：展示的筆電中，也有比較輕量級的行動設備，其實拿起來不會太重。

至於消費性筆電，也有提到省電以及比一般筆電堅固的特性，但在台也是沒有販售。

Computex 2008 is officially over. While organizing photos on the weekend, I realized that there are still
some interesting news that I forgot to share with you on the weekend. Military-grade notebook is not something we commonly see, so I thought this super tough notebook from Getac is worth mentioning.

Some impressions I got from this tough little guy are:

1. Durablility: Even if you drop it from 90 cm high, it will still function perfectly fine.

2. Environment-proof: Completely waterprrof and dustproof. Need to go in the desert? No problem!

3. Lightweight: It is lighter than it looks.

This rugged tablet PC and Getac's other laptop products are currently not on sale in Taiwan.

OLPC會採用微軟作業系統，相信大家很清楚了。這次展覽，微軟也有擺出這款筆電。筆者對於這款筆電的外型，其實有兩個疑點，所以就特別過去把機體拍一拍。

個人的疑問很簡單，一個是有多大，另一個是，為何總是要翹起那兩根。

[OLPC is almost here]

I'm sure everyone knows that the OLPC will be running a Microsoft OS. We saw an OLPC at Microsoft's booth, and we were rather curious about its design. First, how big is it exactly? Second, why are the antennas always up?

• 華碩的這一台是完完全全概念機，只是拿出來做概念展示的。就算要上市，也會是全新的設計。
• 概念機使用的底盤是 Asus G1（應該蠻明顯的）。
• 概念機使用的是 3M 的技術。
• 概念機的解析度是 640x480，亮度是...反正不夠用就對了。
• 概念機最快 2009 年底才有可能上市，即使到了那時，也要看技術的成熟度才會決定要不要上市。

我先說這是謠傳X100遍，所以如果之後沒有成為事實可別找我呀。

在之前的報導中，微星在台灣原本僅出XP版本，並無意於Linux作業系統，我們還為此展開投票。據傳微星工程師今早找某個廠商，說要將Wind NB加入Linux作業系統的機種。

微星這樣做就讚了，看看現今所有廠商，除了技嘉之外，幾乎輕省筆電都有Linux作業系統的版本，感謝在競爭考量下，將Linux版本納入。

It is a rumor. I do not know why I am writing about a rumor. But anyway, do not believe it.

MSI claimed earlier they were not going to have anything more than the prosaic XP OS for the Wind NB, their version of the ultra-portable computer. However, allegedly, an engineer of MSI said they were going to put Linux OS in it, too.

That would be the coolest thing to do, I assure you. Take a look at all the ultra-portables on exhibition and you can hardly find one without a Linux OS except for the G brand ones. Despite that they are doing it in the hope of making more sales, still, we appreciate their efforts.

顧名思義，U90 就是 9" 螢幕版的 U100（U100 是 10"）。就小薑在現場有限的時間來比較，U100 和 U90 應該除了螢幕之外，其他的規格、大小都完全一樣才對。預計六月底上市，售價不詳。

筆者特別留下來試試Eee PC 901 / 1000 鍵盤手感，我想，在了解規格、售價的部分之後，大概也只有鍵盤的部分，可能算是個問題。

在現場筆者玩的感覺，鍵帽下壓到底時，在一開始以及最後，有較明顯的阻力，中間的感受比較空一些。因個人比較喜歡軟一些，中間有比較充實感受的鍵盤，所以對個人來說，在感受上還好。不過像以這種定位的產品來說，手感其實不要太誇張就好，更何況，也沒有像HP 2133特別加塗佈，其實就很好用了。反而是所佔比例比較重要，這次1000也是號稱漂準尺寸的92％，這樣說起來，應該是與HP 2133差不多大。不過，論配置，還是比較喜歡2133就是了。

We stayed behind after the press conference to spend more time with the Eee PC 901/1000, paying particular attention to their keyboards. We think that the smaller keyboard size is perhaps the last thing that's holding most people back from buying an ultra-portable notebook.

Our first impression was that in one key stroke, there seem to be more resistance at the beginning and the end of the stroke. I personally prefer a softer touch, but it still feels ok to me. But honestly, you can't expect this keyboard to give you the same touch as a full-sized one. Besides, the surface of the keys didn't get the same special treatments as the ones on the HP 2133. The size is more important here, and Asus does claim that the keyboard on the 1000 to be 92% full size, which is pretty much the same as the HP 2133. Nonetheless, we still prefer the HP 2133 for its better key arrangement.

顯然華碩懂得大小通吃，901與1000大小一看就有差別。原則上，若想要用手好好打，尤其是男性，就要選1000了。

此外，我們也借到了700，來跟1000做個簡單比較。

Apparently AUSU knows better to appeal to every aspect of needs. You can judge by their covers that girls would fancy Eee PC 901 while the size of Eee PC 1000 may be attractive to guys.

Please guys, do not get picky on the photos. It was a nightmare fighting for a shooting spot with so many people doing exactly the same thing. The crowds made something as easy as putting the Eee PCs together to compare their sizes a painful task. But still, we managed to get you all the pics. Cheers!!

Our editor from Engadget Chinese is at the press conference right now and waiting for Asus to release more details on the new Eee PCs (drool). We managed to get there early and got a good spot. Some specs of these shiny new babes are:

1. 6-cell battery provides 7.5 hr for Eee PC 1000, 7 hr for 1000H and 7.8 hr for 901.

2. The Eee PC 1000H comes with a hard drive instead of an SSD.

3. Fully equipped with 802.11n and Bluetooth.
