Nov 14th 2006 1:38AM I think the color of the flame has more to do with what is burning, and the oxygen composition than just the temperature (eg magnesium always burns white regardless of the temperature, where as copper burns green in the presence of halogens).
I don't know if Lithium fires change color as they increase in temperature or not, but that looked pretty hot. 1000 degrees would certainly be possible for a reactive metal fire.
