COMPUTEX 2007 動手玩:Asus Eee PC 701 {Engadget Chinese}

Aug 6th 2007 4:45PM I'm going to have to disagree with you eno.
This is the PERFECT PC for a lot of people.

Most laptops today are used as overpriced word processors.

If you think about it, most people(including "adults") only use laptops for:

Instant Messaging
Web browsing

And not much else.

Since it's linux, it'd be great for sysadmins or any linux geek. Also, with the $200 price, it's no big deal if you break your eee PC, since you can always get another one. You can't say that for a $2000 PC.

I also think the eee PC should be renamed the "coffee shop PC". Essentially, you can use it as your second laptop for when you leave the office. You can take it to your coffee or whatever and keep in contact(without lugging around your really expensive, valuable laptop). Again, it's no big deal if you spill coffee on it. You can always get another one.

iPhones now in all Apple Stores (US) {The Unofficial Apple Weblog (TUAW)}

Jul 28th 2007 4:02PM Once the iPhone opens up to third party developers, things will get better. In terms of value, Japanese cell phones are still leagues ahead. The iphone will remain a posh collectible for yuppies. And in many cases, a chick magnet. Having an iPhone says that you have lots of money(and naturally women will magically gravitate in your direction). It's expensive at the Apple Store, though. You can find better deals online(such as tinyurl.com/2wyal4). But to the first time buyers that already jumped ship: Enjoy!
