前 CEO Eric Schmidt 正式離開 Google

雖然已經退下火線一段時間，但也代表了一個時代的終結。

說起 Google 的近年代表人物，大家都可能想起 Sundar Pichai，但其前任的 Eric Schmidt 也有著一定的影響力。CNET 獲得消息指，Schmidt 已經辭去 Google 技術顧問的這項過渡職位，代表他正式離開 Google / Alphabet 的架構。是說，報導也指 Schmidt 近來的心思都多放在軍事科技顧問，所以只是官方的記錄上的改變。

Eric Schmidt 是在 2011 年退下 Google CEO 之位、2017 年退任 Alphabet 董事會主席、2019 年離開董事會，但仍以 1 美元的年薪留在 Google 架構裡。在他主理的時候，Google 搜索業務快速成長，後來還有電郵、智慧型手機等新興產品的推出。Google 創辦人 Sergey Brin 和 Larry Page 希望 Schmidt 能以他在業界的老到經驗和領導力來協助公司。

然而外界卻對 Schmidt 任 Google CEO 時對個人隱私的不尊重，造成很大的憂慮。Google 當時大力推行 Android 時，他同時也擔任著 Apple 董事會成員，惹起利益衝突的爭議。不過 Schmidt 對於預測 AI 的掘起可是相當準確，雖然他任內所推出的 Google TV 最後還是失敗了。總而言之，Eric Schmidt 正式離開 Google，也代表了一個時代的終結。
