禪宗於史有據的原流就是達摩在中國所創傳說達摩是印度禪宗第二十八祖 但此說不見於印度佛教典籍，疑是後人杜撰禪宗的思想 特別是哲學層次的思辯 大多是在中國所創 認為其是印度思想並不太正確另外，洋人講到禪就想到日本，主要是因為將禪宗傳到美國並使其大為興盛的是日本禪師
