Motorola 展示 X24 WiMax 車用資訊傳輸模組

當其它業者才剛準備要開始淺嚐 WiMax 的滋味時，Motorola 卻早已經盤算如何在未來的 WiMax 時代( ? )中佔據一席之地。

這款名為 X24 的車載 WiMax 模組，能夠讓車輛連結上 WiMax 網路，提供遠距遙測之類的服務( 比如說即時回傳車輛狀況、車輛定位 )。根據 Motorola 的業務經理 Manash Goswami 指出，藉由 WiMax 的高速傳輸能力，X24 未來也有機會用來提供即時路況資訊，或是傳送高畫質影音給車上娛樂設備。此外，Motorola 也會單獨提供 X24 所採用的 WTM1000 核心處理晶片，讓協力廠商能夠輕鬆開發更多的 WiMax 周邊設備，以提供更多樣化的服務。

從現在所獲得的資訊看來，目前還在概念驗証階段的 X24 只是將資訊傳輸管道從現有的 GSM/GPRS 網路替換成更高速的 WiMax 網路。至於當中還有沒有其它不為人知的新功能，以及更詳細的規格，或許得等到下個月的 WiMax World 活動才會見曉。
