竹材的確是有環保概念的素材，因為最適當的竹材原料是採四年生的，通常以採收後放置一年再加工，這樣可以確保竹材的乾燥及變形程度不會影響成品，比種樹的時間要來的縮短。但竹筷跟竹材製品的環保，又是另一個議題。
