Computex 2008：輕省筆電有可能成為禮品公司中的商品？

其實除了FIC之外，還有一些不知名的攤位也有展示輕省筆電。像圖中這樣的展示，就有看到三、四家有了。由於昨天個人所到之攤位，塞滿了買家的詢問，所以我也不好去問詳細情形。都在旁聽偷偷聽一些耳語，例如：

賣：「左邊這台是筆碩的Eee PC，右邊這台是我們的，你看看我們做的筆電，比他們還小呢，價格還比較便宜」
買：「你們公司在哪？這個是在哪兒作的呢？」
賣：「我們公司在台灣，這台是在大陸做的，品質很讚的，不用擔心」
買：「我們公司在大陸，剛好有這個需求。好，我再看看，等下再過來」。

我哩...，我還以為我有機會偷聽到價格說。我的感覺是，再這樣下去，也許哪一天禮品推出輕省筆電，成為最當紅的贈品就帥氣了。

We've seen enough ultra-portable or Netbooks at Computex already. Nonetheless, we still keep on bumping into some unknown companies showing Netbooks like this (see picture). We didn't get to ask them questions, because booths like this are always packed with people. A typical conversation at these booths usually carries on like this:

Seller: "Hey, this is Asus Eee PC, our Netbook is so much smaller in comparison."

Buyer: "Where are you from? Where is this made in?"

Seller: "Our company is located in Taiwan, but this machine is made in China. Don't worry, the quality is guaranteed."

Buyer: "Oh, my company is in China too, and this looks exactly like what we need. I'll come back in a bit."

It sounds like everyone is competing on lowering the price. Perhaps one day Netbooks will be so cheap that they are sold at Hallmark.

Nothing wrong. If you have been working in local factories in China, you will know something about their worker's attitude towards production quality.

Of course the common above isn't entirely fair, there are some local manufactuers who takes their production quality very seriously, however, most of the good thing made in China nowdays, are still from foreign invested companies who introduce proper production workflow and quality control system into China.

One more thing: the reason I used the phrase "production quality" instead of "product quality" is due to my own personal experience working in China. I the company I work for, the demostration unit send to oversea buyers were as good as they can be, top quality. However, when it came to mass production, the output quality varies from good, acceptable, right down to sucks. That's when I realize product quality means little in the long run, production quality is all that matters. Without good production quality, there is no guarantee for long-term good product quality.
