Intel的MID概念產品已經不止一次出現在Engadget了，我們在台北的COMPUTEX 2007上已經見過了所有的產品，我們在接下去會重點介紹愛國者的MID產品，不過相對於UMPC概念，MID晚了一點現身，但雙方畢竟現在都站在一個起跑線上，將來的手機會消失嗎？取代的是人人都會帶著一個迷你的智慧掌上設備。

附錄－MID (Mobile Internet Device)：這是Intel 在其春季IDF中提出的新概念，實質是基於Linux系統的UMPC，英代爾將MID平臺劃分為三個系列：Stay in Touch（保持聯絡），Be Entertained（娛樂）和Access Info & Locate（獲取資訊及定位）。

Stay in Touch設備將為VoIP，電子郵件和即時通訊進行優化，並具備拍照和錄製視訊的功能。Be Entertained設備將提供對流式視訊、行動電視、遊戲和音樂播放的支援，同時還提供可選的多媒體基座。Access Info & Locate設備則側重於移動GPS導航，即時景點資訊（POI）資料庫以及本地搜尋與服務。
