COMPUTEX 2007：openmoko Neo 1973 Linux 智慧型手機

看到上圖這款 Linux 手機，是我們最興奮的一件事，只因為概念上的創新與突破。由大眾電腦投資成立的 openmoko 公司，專門研發真正開放原始碼的 Linux 手機－Neo 1973 就是第一款開發出的機型。Neo 1973 最大的特色在於這款產品只是一個原型的概念，但包括 GPS 模組、WiFi 模組等硬體概念都已經設計在其中。如果有廠商想要開發專門的 GPS 手機，就能用 Neo 1973 為基礎發展而出，可說是解放硬體的重要表現。

接下來就是大家相當熟習的軟體開放原始碼的概念，這次是行動式軟體，在永續修正的觀念下，參與開放原始碼的社群都能一起為這個 Linux 行動平台加諸新的軟體和應用功能。有趣的是，使用者想要執行認一款行動 Linux 軟體的話，只要在任何可接連無線網路（或 GPRS）的地方就可以直接下載，也是目前智慧型手機未嚐試過的創新手法。擊點下面圖庫看更多 Neo 1973 的照片，擊點全文有 Neo 1973 實際操作影片：

This concept smartphone by openmoko has an innovative new idea: Why not make a smartphone based on opensource Linux? The manufacturer of the phone -- FIC -- will provide drivers to all the hardware, and openmoko will serve as the opensource community in which applications can be developed. Another interesting idea is that the phone links directly to a central application repositary via WiFi or WWAN networks, allowing immediate download, installation and updates without the hassle of a PC. The first such concept phone, the Neo 1973, has specs as shown above.

左邊為 GPS 天線接頭，當然有變身成數位電視接收天線的可能。

Neo 1973 最大的特色在於搭載 VGA 解析度螢幕，直接往智慧型手機下一代解析度邁進，據展場人員陳述，VGA 解析度是最好移轉桌上軟體的螢幕解析度，另一方面也希望在 Neo 上一次看到更多應用列表。
